Biron Teas is a proud to offer biodegradable tea bags and overwraps. Offering overwraps made from NatureFlex, their overwraps are USDA bio-preferred certified and compostable in both industrial and home composting environments, and additionally are suitable for anaerobic digestion. Anaerobic digestion is the natural process in which microorganisms break down organic materials/materials made of plants or animals, like food scraps; think apple or banana peel.
These overwraps are clear but can be customized with color and printing. They also offer enough of a barrier to keep teas fresh for up to a year.
The tea bags are made from soilon, a woven mesh made from poly-lactic acid filaments derived from corn-starch. They a are completely biodegraded when disposed in soil, contain no hazardous substances such as endocrine disruptors, and have antibacterial and antifungal proprieties. We love that they let the herbs and tea leafs expand fully, and are strong enough to be steeped more than once. These tea bags allows us to make teas with full leaf teas and herbs offering a robust cup of tea with boosted wellness benefits.
